Mellow, for the most part, like most of my music, It Only Hurts when I Laugh ends up with a bit of a rowdy feeling to it, with a longer harmonica solo than found on Spin-Off and a buzz guitar rendition of the Chicken Song. Also to be found, is a little ditty with a bit of an "Indian" flavor, and a short flute doodle played with a flute made by a native American.
The name of the album stems from a personal quirk of mine: Rather than getting angry, like I do at most every other mistake I make in life, somehow, making errors, while playing music, makes me laugh. ..so there is usually lots of laughter in the rough-cuts of my music. I am able to edit out most of the errors--but there is usually some laughter on every album that I record, as a result. That is not necessarily good for you, though: If I'm laughing, it is likely to be hurting your ears!!!
