Title Here

The title of this second album was born of frustration at my computer's continually asking me what the name of the CD was going to be, as I was "saving to disk" the music we were recording. I did not know what the title of the CD was going to be, until I took a photo of a knothole in a tree, down by the creek in my mother's small town. After I was through with the resulting image, it reminded me of some gnarly, old, gangster boss. ..and the next time the computer wanted to know what the name of the CD was going to be, I typed in, [with knowing look and an implied threat]: Don't Ask.

Soothing, pensive, sometimes moody, this album is good music to think or create to. It has no lyrics to distract one's thoughts--just two acoustic guitars playing some blues or some Spanish flavored melodies. Some songs might evoke visions of American "Indians" dancing around a camp fire. The whole CD is of new, spontaneous melodies that sprang out, unrehearsed, while we were trying to find some common ground, musically.

To achieve at least a touch of professionalism on this CD [v.s. my own solo, albums], I've included two or three tracks of Will Shannon playing by himself. He is a lot better when he doesn't have to guess where I am going to go with my next note. As if to balance out all of Will's fine playing, however, I've also included a new slide-guitar piece, that I came up with to fill some last minute space on the CD. I've not been playing with a slide for long, so I'm kind of tickled at the way that one came out. Your opinion may vary.
