Chilly Wonk is a "Best Of" collection compiled from recordings released on my first six CD's. It does feature one new rendition of the Funnybone Blues, however, to keep its flavor fresh.
The cover photo appears to me to be a rather vicious-looking little critter, with sharp pointed teeth, sitting in a tree up over a lighted area, which one assumes is the nice warm fire of some happy humans. Although he appears to be quite dapper, with his little top-knot and screwed-down hair-doo, he seems to be snarling some kind of obscenity at the doings down below.
The Ozark ice storm that created this ice-gem, also knocked the power out for 9-15 days in North Central Arkansas and Southern Missouri, the night of January 28, 2009. It was pretty for a day and a mess of downed branches, trees, and power-lines for a long, long, time, after words. Generator and flashlight battery sales were brisk, as witnessed by the empty shelves when I finally got into town. Birthday cake candles were all I saw, in that department, but everybody kept their sense of humor, for the most part. Many of us had been through a worse storm, ten years previous, when some folks just didn't make it through the cold, without power.
