Kicking Back

In this shot, I was relaxing with some close friends up just below the Homestake Reservoir Dam.    That is up about 11,ooo feet in the Central Rockies of Colorado.    I knew that I would be wanting to build my own cabin out in the woods someday, so I spent fourteen summers working as a Carpenter in the Vail Valley.    Skiing, fishing, or Bicycling, the Rockies are Wonderful.

Altitude was the solution to the summertime heat--we all headed up the mountains on the weekend.   My old drinking buddy picked up my camera and shot this photo--I've treasured it ever since.   This was a reunion with old friends.   I'd stopped drinking back 1989, however this photo is my "Colorado Carpenter era" personified. ..although I was quite a bit younger when I was hell-raising carpenter.   I am still prone to wear worn-out clothes, though--or none at all out here in the boonies. It has been a while since I've tried to make much of a fashion statement. [This photo was probably shot around 1994--I'll have to look.]
