Canon EOS-1Ds
70-300 mm. zoom

I am amazed with this camera. It is automatic-everything, jiggle-proof, and a good bit water-resistant. ..and completely rechargable. I don't have to feed it--film or batteries. I can change film speed from one frame to the next, if necessary. It has an extra shutter button for shooting vertical photos. I found this feature irrelivant, until I tried sitting in a bird blind for a while. I'm pretty happy Canon's engineers went through the trouble to do that, now. I just love being able to remove the memory card in full daylight, without fear of fogging the film. ..and being able to shoot more than 2000 4x6 photos per 4G card. That is a dramatic improvement over 36 exposures, wouldn't you say?

The 70-300 mm., image-stabilized zoom is a miracal in itself. I have had to lug a tripod around with me for 35 years or more--and now I can often make do with a walking-stick for a brace. The low end of the zoom range renders a bit of wide-angle curvature, at 70 mm, but I'm quite impressed with the detail that this zoom lens renders. ..even wide open, it is sharp as life.
